On March 28, 2022, at approximately 8:00 AM, Claremont Police Department Officers, along with Detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a residential home in the 100 block of Kirkwood Ave., Claremont. Inside the home, Officers found every room of the home filled with marijuana plants and removed 667 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. They also found approximately 120 pounds of drying cannabis and approximately 80 pounds of processed cannabis.
The extreme measures used to illegally grow the marijuana endangered the neighborhood. The home was filled with non-code compliant wiring used to power special lighting and air filtration systems. These lighting systems are often the source of fires within a grow. The lighting system was disconnected to eliminate the hazard to the public. The City’s Building Inspector has “red-tagged” the building deeming it unsafe to occupy.
The investigation remains active in an attempt to determine who is responsible for the grow. With 667 plants seized, along with the drying and processed cannabis, the rough street value is estimated to exceed $500,000 dollars. If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399- 5411.
